Investigation of Hot QCD Matter: Theoretical Aspects

چکیده

This lecture presents an overview of the status of the investigation of the properties of the quark-gluon plasma using relativistic heavy ion collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It focuses on the insights that have been obtained by the comparison between experimental data from both facilities and theoretical calculations. ar X iv :1 30 9. 76 16 v2 [ nu cl -t h] 1 2 O ct 2 01 3 Investigation of Hot QCD Matter: Theoretical Aspects 2

QCD and Quark/Hadron Matter

A brief review on the recent theoretical progress in hot/dense QCD is given. Special emphasis is put on the non-perturbative aspects of QCD plasma and the modification of hadron proporties near the critical temperature of chiral transition.

One of the possible explanations for the dark matter needed in the standard cosmological model is so-called warm dark matter, in the form of right-handed (“sterile”) neutrinos with a mass in the keV range. I describe how various properties of QCD at temperatures of a few hundred MeV play an important role in the theoretical computations that are needed for consolidating or falsifying this scena...

Hot and dense matter: from RHIC to LHC Theoretical overview

Relativistic heavy ion physics studies the phenomena that occur when a very large (in units of QCD scale ΛQCD) amount of energy is deposited into a large (in units of Λ −3 QCD) volume, creating an extended in space and time domain with an energy density that is large in units of ΛQCD. This includes the mechanism by which the energy is deposited (likely a transformation of the colliding Lorentz-...

The Sigma Meson and Chiral Transition in Hot and Dense Matter

It is pointed out that the hadron spectroscopy should be a study of the structure of the QCD vacuum, low-energy elementary excitations on top of which are hadrons. Concentrating on the dynamical breaking of the chiral symmetry in the QCD vacuum, we emphasize the importance to clarify what is going on with mesons in the I = J = 0-channel, i.e., the sigma meson channel, because it is connected to...

Non-perturbative Aspects of Hot Qcd

I discuss some non-perturbative aspects of hot gauge theories as related to the unscreened static magnetic interactions. I first review some of the infrared divergences which cause the breakdown of the perturbation theory. Then I show that kinetic theory, as derived from quantum field theory, is a powerful tool to construct effective theories for the soft modes, which then can be treated non-pe...
